Rental terms & conditions

These are the terms every hire runs on, written out in full so there is nothing to discover at the counter. The rental agreement you sign at pick-up is the binding contract, and these terms form part of it.

01Who can hire

  • Two-wheelers are rented to riders aged 18 and over. Self-drive cars are rented to drivers aged 21 and over.
  • You must hold a valid, original driving licence for the class of vehicle you are hiring — a gearless scooter, a geared motorcycle and a car are three different endorsements. A learner's licence is not accepted for any vehicle.
  • Visitors from outside India need a passport, a valid visa, and either an International Driving Permit or a home-country licence issued in English.
  • One government photo ID — Aadhaar card, driving licence or passport — is sent with your enquiry as a photo or a scan, so the paperwork is done before you arrive. Uploading it is not a substitute for the original: the original of the same document, and your licence, are checked at the counter when you collect the vehicle.
  • We record the details and keep a copy for the duration of the hire; we never keep original documents.
  • The vehicle is handed over only to the person named on the rental agreement, and only that person may ride or drive it.

02Enquiries and bookings

  • An enquiry made on this website is a request, not a confirmed booking. Nothing is reserved and no payment is taken online.
  • The enquiry form asks for one identity document because it is what lets us have the agreement ready before you arrive. If you would rather not upload anything, message us on WhatsApp or ring the counter instead and we will take the enquiry that way.
  • We reply on WhatsApp or by phone to confirm availability, the rate and the pick-up. The hire is confirmed only once we have said so.
  • A confirmed vehicle is held for one hour past the agreed pick-up time. After that it may be released to another rider unless you have told us you are running late.
  • Vehicles are hired by class, not by individual unit. If the exact model you asked for is off the road, we will offer a comparable vehicle or a full release from the booking — your choice.

03Rates, deposit and payment

  • Rates are quoted per rental day. A rental day is 24 hours from the time the keys change hands, not a calendar date.
  • Weekly and monthly rates, where shown, apply to the whole booked period and are not pro-rated if the vehicle comes back early.
  • A refundable security deposit is taken at pick-up, in cash or by UPI. The amount depends on the vehicle and is told to you before you commit.
  • The deposit is returned after the vehicle is inspected on return, less any fuel shortfall, extra kilometres, late fee, damage or outstanding challan.
  • The rental amount is payable at pick-up unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Delivery charges for a pick-up point away from our counter are shown before the hire.
  • Every amount on this site is in Indian rupees and includes applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

04Fuel

  • Fuel is not included in the rate. The vehicle is handed over with the fuel level written on the agreement and must come back at that same level.
  • If it comes back short, the fuel is charged at the pump rate plus a refuelling charge, deducted from the deposit.
  • Fuel left in the tank above the agreed level is not refunded.
  • Use the fuel grade written on the vehicle. Damage caused by the wrong fuel is charged in full.

05Kilometre limits

  • Where a vehicle listing shows a daily kilometre limit, that limit applies for each rental day and is pooled across the hire.
  • Kilometres beyond the limit are charged at the per-kilometre rate shown on that vehicle's page and settled at return.
  • Vehicles listed without a limit are unlimited-kilometre within the travel area described below.
  • The odometer is read and recorded by both of us at handover and at return. A tampered or disconnected odometer means the hire is charged at the maximum daily rate for the full period, and the deposit is forfeit.

06Pick-up and return

  • The vehicle is returned on the agreed date, at the agreed time, to the agreed point, with the helmets, documents, both keys and any accessory handed over with it.
  • There is a grace period of one hour. After that, late return is charged per hour, and beyond four hours a full extra rental day is charged.
  • An extension has to be approved by us before your return time. We will almost always say yes if the vehicle is free — but keeping the vehicle past the agreed time without approval is unauthorised use, and we may report it and recover the vehicle.
  • Returning early does not reduce the agreed rental.
  • If a pick-up or drop at your hotel or the railway station has been arranged, someone with the original documents must be there to receive or hand back the vehicle.

07Riding rules and safety

  • Helmets are provided for the rider and the pillion on every two-wheeler, and wearing them is both the law and a condition of the hire.
  • A two-wheeler carries two people at most. A car carries no more people than it has seat belts.
  • Riding or driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any medication that impairs control ends the hire immediately, forfeits the deposit, and voids every insurance cover on the vehicle.
  • No racing, stunts, riding schools, towing, off-road or unmetalled trail use, and no carrying goods or passengers for hire or reward.
  • The vehicle may not be sublet, lent, re-rented or handed to anyone not named on the agreement.
  • Speed limits, one-ways, no-entry zones and every other traffic rule apply. You are the driver in law for the whole hire.
  • Check the vehicle with us at handover — brakes, lights, tyres, horn, mirrors. Anything you notice later that we did not record together is difficult for either of us to prove.

08Where you can take the vehicle

  • Vehicles are hired for use within Rajasthan. Udaipur, the lakes, Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur, Mount Abu and the Aravalli roads are all well within that.
  • Taking a vehicle out of the state needs our written permission in advance and may carry an interstate permit charge.
  • Restricted areas, border zones, closed forest tracks and unsurfaced hill trails are out of bounds for every vehicle in the fleet.
  • Some vehicles carry a GPS tracker. We use it to locate a vehicle that is overdue or reported stolen, and for nothing else.

09Traffic fines and legal penalties

  • Every challan, e-challan, parking charge, toll and legal penalty incurred during your hire is yours to pay, including ones that reach us weeks later.
  • A challan that arrives before the deposit is returned is deducted from it. One that arrives afterwards is passed on to you with the challan copy, and remains payable.
  • If the vehicle is towed or impounded because of how it was parked or ridden, the release charges, the recovery cost and the rental for the days it is held are all yours.

10Damage, breakdown and theft

  • You are responsible for the vehicle from handover until we take it back. Damage during the hire — panels, mirrors, levers, lights, punctures and tyre damage included — is charged at the cost of repair or replacement.
  • Mechanical failure from ordinary wear is ours, not yours. Tell us straight away and we will arrange the repair or a replacement vehicle where we can.
  • Do not get any repair done yourself without our approval. Unapproved repair work is not reimbursed and any damage it causes is charged.
  • After an accident, stop, do not leave the scene, make sure everyone is safe, call us immediately, and file a police report where one is required.
  • Each vehicle carries the third-party insurance the law requires. Own damage is settled between us as set out here, and any insurance excess on a claim is payable by you.
  • If the vehicle is stolen, an FIR must be filed at once and both keys returned to us. Where both keys cannot be produced, the loss is treated as your liability for the vehicle's value, less any amount the insurer actually settles.

11Cancellation and refunds

  • Because nothing is charged online, a booking can be cancelled at any time before pick-up at no cost. A message on WhatsApp is enough, and telling us early genuinely helps.
  • Once the hire has begun, unused days are not refunded.
  • If we cannot supply a vehicle we have confirmed, and no comparable one is available, anything you have paid for that hire is returned in full.
  • Weather, road closures, breakdowns of your own travel plans and similar events outside our control do not create a refund once the vehicle has been handed over.

12When we can refuse or take a vehicle back

  • We can decline a hire at the counter — most often for an invalid or missing licence, an ID that does not match, or a rider who is not in a state to ride safely. Anything already paid for that hire is returned.
  • We can end a hire in progress and recover the vehicle, without notice and without a refund, if these terms are broken — in particular unauthorised use, an unnamed rider, intoxication, or a vehicle taken outside the agreed area.

13Liability

  • Riding and driving carry risk that no rental company can remove. Beyond what the law requires of us, we are not liable for personal injury, or for belongings lost, damaged or left in or on a vehicle.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — a missed train, a missed flight, a cancelled hotel — arising from a breakdown, an accident or a vehicle being unavailable.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

14Your details

  • The name, phone number, email address and dates you send through this site are used to answer your enquiry and to run the hire. The documents shown at pick-up are recorded for the same purpose and because the law requires it of us.
  • An identity document uploaded with an enquiry is stored in private cloud storage, not on this website and nowhere it can be reached by a public link. It is opened only by our own staff, only from the password-protected booking console, and only to verify the hire it was sent for.
  • We do not sell your details or pass them to anyone for marketing, and we never post or share a document you send us.
  • Enquiry records and hire records are kept as long as we need them for our accounts and for any claim arising from the hire. Ask us and we will tell you what we hold about you, delete a document you uploaded, or delete anything else we are not required to keep.
  • Anything about your details can be raised with us at ride@openbikerental.in or on +91 89557 30587.

15Changes and governing law

  • These terms may be updated. The version in force for your hire is the one shown on this page when you send your enquiry, and the one attached to the agreement you sign at pick-up.
  • If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
  • These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts at Udaipur, Rajasthan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from a hire.

Anything here you want explained?

Ask before you book rather than after. A message on WhatsApp gets a straight answer, and we would far rather talk through the deposit or the kilometre limit now than settle it at the counter.
